Lavender is one of the most recognizable scents in the world. Its flower water offers a softer, gentler way to bring lavender into skincare.
What Is Lavender Flower Water?
Lavender Flower Water is the water collected when Lavandula Angustifolia flowers are steam-distilled. In our formulas it is sourced from organic farming.
During distillation, the essential oil separates from the water. The water that remains, sometimes called a hydrosol, keeps a light lavender scent and a small amount of the plant's water-soluble compounds. It is much milder than lavender essential oil.
What It Does for Skin
Refreshes. Lavender water gives formulas a fresh, calming feel.
Helps skin feel calm and balanced. It is a gentle botanical base for products that also contain active ingredients.
Adds a soft, natural scent. Lavender water brings a light floral note without heavy fragrance.
Where You'll Find It at True Colour Beauty
The Blemish Care Purifying Toner uses lavender flower water alongside salicylic acid and organic cucumber, so the toner feels fresh and comfortable.
How to Use It
Apply the toner after cleansing, then follow with moisturizer. Use sunscreen in the morning, as the toner contains an exfoliating acid.
What the Research Doesn't Say
Most lavender research looks at the essential oil. A 2002 review in Phytotherapy Research summarizes the essential oil's biological activities, but flower water is far less concentrated, so those findings don't transfer directly. Lavender water's role is gentle and refreshing. People who are sensitive to lavender should patch test.
