The order you apply skincare in really matters. Each product is designed to work best on clean skin or on top of another layer. The simple rule is thinnest to thickest: watery products first, rich creams and oils last.
Your morning routine
Step 1: Cleanse
A gentle cleanse removes overnight oil. Try Aloe Refresh Facial Wash or, for oily skin, Clarifying Gel Cleanser.
Step 2: Tone
Sweep or pat on pH Balance Hydrating Toner to refresh skin and add a first layer of hydration.
Step 3: Serum
Apply two or three drops of a serum for your skin goals. Vitamin C Serum is a popular morning choice for a brighter-looking complexion; Hydrating Serum suits every skin type.
Step 4: Eye cream
Tap a small amount of Brightening Eye Cream around the orbital bone with your ring finger.
Step 5: Moisturize
Lock everything in with a moisturizer that suits your skin: Oil-Free Hydrating Gel Moisturizer for oily skin, Light Moisturizing Day Cream for normal skin.
Step 6: Sunscreen
Finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning, even on cloudy days. It is the most important step for keeping skin looking healthy.
Your evening routine
Step 1: Remove makeup
Start with BiPhasic Make-up Remover or Micellar Cleansing Water. See our double cleansing guide.
Step 2: Cleanse
Follow with your regular cleanser for truly clean skin.
Step 3: Tone
Apply your toner as in the morning.
Step 4: Treatment serum
Evening is a good time for Retinol Alternative Serum with bakuchiol, or Peptide Renewal Serum.
Step 5: Eye cream
Try Retinol Alternative Eye Serum or Peptide Renewal Eye Cream.
Step 6: Night cream
A richer cream such as Ceramide Night Cream supports your skin barrier overnight.
Step 7: Facial oil (optional)
Press two or three drops of Nourishing Facial Oil over your night cream for extra comfort, especially in winter.
Layering tips
- Give each layer around 30 to 60 seconds before the next.
- Introduce one new product at a time and patch test it first.
- Don't use too many active serums at once. One or two is plenty.
Quick questions
Does facial oil go before or after moisturizer?
After. Oils are the last step because they help seal in the layers underneath.
Can I use vitamin C and a retinol alternative?
Yes. A simple approach is vitamin C in the morning and your retinol alternative at night.
