Sweet Almond Oil: A Timeless Softener for Skin and Hair

Sweet almond oil is one of the most traditional skin and hair oils. Its light texture and mild nature have kept it in use for centuries.

What Is Sweet Almond Oil?

Sweet Almond Oil is pressed from the kernels of the sweet almond tree, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis. In our formulas it is sourced from organic farming.

A 2010 review in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice describes almond oil as rich in oleic and linoleic acids, with vitamin E, and summarizes its traditional use for softening and smoothing skin.

What It Does

Softens and conditions. Almond oil helps skin feel smooth and supple and helps hair feel softer.

Supports a comfortable feel. As an emollient, it helps reduce moisture loss so skin stays comfortable.

Feels light. It spreads easily and suits facial oils, body oils and hair care.

Where You'll Find It at True Colour Beauty

For skin, sweet almond oil is in the All-In-One Facial Oil and the Omega Comfort Body Oil.

For hair, it conditions in the Keratin Intensive Rescue Hair Mask and the Keratin Volume Boost Conditioner. It also appears in the Apricot Natural Soap.

How to Use It

Apply body oil to damp skin after showering to help lock in moisture. Use facial oil as your last evening step. Use hair products as directed.

What the Research Doesn't Say

Much of the evidence for almond oil is traditional or from small studies. Its benefits are softening and conditioning, which is exactly what we use it for.
