Tomatoes get their red color from lycopene, one of the most studied antioxidants in nutrition. That same compound is why tomato shows up in skincare.
What Is Tomato Fruit Extract?
Tomato Fruit Extract comes from Solanum Lycopersicum. In our formulas it is sourced from organic farming.
Tomatoes contain carotenoids, especially lycopene and some beta-carotene, along with vitamin C and polyphenols. A 2012 review in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition describes how carotenoids such as lycopene act as antioxidants in skin.
What It Does for Skin
Helps protect against environmental stress. Lycopene and other carotenoids are antioxidants that help skin defend against everyday stressors.
Supports a brighter, more even look. As part of an antioxidant-rich oil, tomato helps skin look radiant.
Blends well with oils. Carotenoids are fat-soluble, which makes facial oils a natural home for tomato extract.

How to Use It
Press a few drops of facial oil into skin as the last step of your evening routine, or mix with moisturizer. In the morning, always finish with sunscreen.
What the Research Doesn't Say
Some of the best-known tomato research is dietary. A 2011 trial in the British Journal of Dermatology found that people who ate lycopene-rich tomato paste daily for 12 weeks had some protection against sunburn-related redness. That was eating tomato paste, not applying an extract, and neither is a substitute for sunscreen.
